Platformization and Publishing: Changes in Literary Publishing

Abstract This article explores the influence of platformization on literary publishing, focusing impact audiobooks and streaming services editorial processes business objectives. Increased importance some genres, sliding concepts quality, increasing dependency social media, diminishing economic margins, stricter decisions are transitioning traits highlighted in this study Norwegian trade publishers. Further, analysis brings forward three central challenges to today's publishers: dependence digital platforms obtain readership, favoring simple narrative structures countering broader catalogues, increased press prioritizing a market characterized by customization.
